Have fun with a Beninese scammer

Comment

anneth_musa.jpgHey, guys. If you’re bored at work today, I have a fun little game we can play. I posted some Ikea dressers on Craigslist in New York and sold them a few days later. However, I got an email from Mrs. Mary asking to buy the dressers for $300 or something and that she would send me $700 for me to cash and send her the “change.” Standard scam. However, I’ve got Mrs. Mary going strong and she’s still hot on my tail, expecting a few hundred bucks to roll her way any minute now. He/she even sent a fake Safeway money order.

Here’s what we all can do. Please mention that I told you all that she has dressers for sale. Please contact her with more and more emails, effectively burying her in gibberish. Her email is marystics@yahoo.com and you can enjoy our correspondence after the jump.

John,

OH NO! I think I sent it to Western Union in Cotonou, Benin. Can you go check? Please take a picture of what you get from the Western Union people so I can be sure you didn’t get the money. Western Union says I can’t change the transfer until you confirm. I’ll try to reroute the furniture to the Congo.
