TechCrunch France Integrates With TechCrunch.com

Comment

Today, TechCrunch has some big news to share with you: TechCrunch France will finally become part of TechCrunch.com.

Launched in 2006 by Michael Arrington and Ouriel Ohayon, TechCrunch France was one of the first tech blogs to take off in France, and its launch marked one of the first steps toward internationalization for the TechCrunch network. After just two years, TechCrunch France had already reached 1 million readers by 2008. And in 2010, TechCrunch France relaunched after a few months of silence following the departures of Ouriel Ohayon and Alain Ezkenazi. It’s been covering French startup news ever since.

France (along with TechCrunch Japan) has always been one of the only countries to have a TechCrunch site available in the local language. This demonstrates the richness of the local ecosystem, but it also eventually complicated the internationalization of content. Startups in other European countries are covered directly on TechCrunch.com/Europe, whereas French startup news is less visible for the millions of readers across the globe who don’t read French. Therefore, we’ve taken a strategic decision to integrate TechCrunch France with TechCrunch.com, something which will now allow French startups to have the same visibility and coverage as their European and international compatriots.

From today, TechCrunch France will redirect to TechCrunch.com/Europe and French startups are invited to contact the European team here to share news in the future. The European team will also be looking for France-based contributors to cover local news in English in the coming days.

TechCrunch would like to thank everyone who has participated in the development of TechCrunch France, including:

Ouriel Ohayon and Alain Eskenazi
Roxanne Varza and Cédric Giorgi with Selma Bekkaoui, Julien Mechin, Aurélie Perruche, Romain Péchard, Clément Vouillon, Renaud Euvrard, Julia Buchner, Edouard Gasser
Cédric O’neill, Antoine Msika, Pierre Entremont, Kevin Straszburger and Julien and Aurelie will continue to contribute.

Thank you to our loyal readers and see you soon on TechCrunch.com/Europe!
