Typical financial planning and analysis teams spend the bulk of their time on data-gathering and administering processes. That’s because they often have to deal with cumbersome systems and software tools, leaving little time to focus on generating insights that might drive business growth. At least, that’s according to Bijan Moallemi, the co-founder of Mosaic, a […]
Mosaic, which aims to change the way CFOs of high-growth companies operate, has raised $25 million in a Series B round of funding led by Founders Fund. Bijan Moallemi, Joe Garafalo and Brian Campbell started San Diego-based Mosaic in 2019 after meeting at Palantir Technologies, where they worked on building out that company’s finance organization […]
Mosaic Building Group, a Phoenix, Arizona-based construction tech startup, has raised $44 million in a Series B funding round led by Peak State Ventures. New investors Starwood Capital, invisionAZ, Tekfen Ventures and Brightstone also put money in the round. They joined previous backers Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Building Ventures, Innovation Endeavors, 8VC and Founders Fund, bringing […]
CFOs are the supposed omniscient owners of a company. While the CEO sets strategy, messages and builds culture, the CFO needs to know everything that it is going on in an organization. Where is revenue coming from, and when will it arrive? How much will new headcount cost, and when do those expenses need to […]
You might not know of XYZ Venture Capital, a four-year-old, San Francisco-based seed-stage venture firm, but many veterans of Palantir are surely aware of it. XYZ says it has already backed 22 startups whose founders came out of the data analysis company, including, most notably, Anduril, Palmer Luckey’s defense tech startup. In fact, the founder […]

What if a mystery TV series let you decide to follow one character’s story to the end, or jump between characters as the action unfolds? That’s the idea behind Mosaic, a 3-year, $20 million project by the acclaimed director of Traffic and Ocean’s 11, Steven Soderbergh. Today, HBO launches the Mosaic app for iOS and […]
Mosaic Manufacturing made waves a few weeks ago with the launch of the Palette, a system for printing multi-colored 3D objects. We were lucky enough to hang out with the team in Montreal where they showed us their device in the flesh, proving that they probably have one of the most compelling color printing add-ons in the market.
Mosaic, a startup allowing people to invest in solar projects, announced today that it has received regulatory approval for its next wave of crowdfunding efforts in California, worth a total of $100 million in investment. The site opened to the public back in January with three projects that were fully backed in fewer than 24 hours. In total, the company says that it has raised $1.1 million from more than 1,000 investors to fund 12 rooftop solar power plants. Co-founder and President Billy Parish added that after Mosaic made the announcement this morning, it launched a project that needed $157,000 in funding, and it raised the amount in six hours.
A group of MIT students created an app at a PennApps Hackathon that can do amazing things, connecting multiple iOS devices into a single, interactive screen. The app itself, which doesn't require any kind of jailbreaking or special access and is currently available in the App Store for free, is impressive enough, but Mosaic has much bigger plans: They've also created an SDK to let other developers incorporate similar functionality into their own apps.
Mosaic, the new app from Mixbook that lets you create photo books right on your iPhone, is making its public debut today. The app is beginning to roll out to those who had previously requested early access, before becoming more widely available next week. Mosaic has been designed as the easiest way to build a printed photo book using the photos found on your phone, and on that point, it delivers.
The team behind Yobongo, the location-based mobile chat application that was acquired by Mixbook in March, is finally ready to reveal what they've been up to in the months since. We already knew that Mixbook wanted to expand into the mobile photobook space, and had essentially hired the Yobongo team for their talents, not the Yobongo application itself. And those talents have been put to good use it seems. The forthcoming iOS application called "Mosaic" aims to address all the reasons why photobooks aren't more popular, which includes the time it takes to make them, the cost, and the way they're currently marketed.
Good golly, was it really seventeen years ago that NCSA Mosaic 1.0 was released? How far we've come in the nearly two decades since images were first rendered inline with text. Now we take it for granted that we can watch movies in our browsers!
