Brooklyn-based MakerBot is a darling of the 3D printing community, and it recently moved into its new digs in Sunset Park, so the crew can more efficiently build and ship their shiny new Replicator 2 and 2X printers. Call it a classic case of growing pains — once demand for 3D printers started picking up, the MakerBot team soon found themselves aching for even more space to work in, and we got… → Read More
These watches are based on vintage classics and remade by a young man in New York’s favorite borough, Brooklyn. The designer, David Sokosh, slaps a huge Unitas movement into new cases and then pops on new hands and a face. He sells some of them at Brooklyn Flea and a few online, but obviously these are limited editions. They range from $400 to $1,200.

A Brooklyn, NY startup named miShare, has created a product, which could bring back the mating ritual of mixtape-swapping (but a modern version of it). The gadget allows you to swap music, photos, and anything else you can fit on your iPod. Instead wasting a CD on a paternal love interest, you simply attach your iPods to the miShare to transfer your mix. Depending on their iPod and setup, they may… → Read More
Need a new watch and have about $175 lying about? Take a look at Steel Cake. These things are designed by two Pratt graduates and the company is based in Brooklyn, so you know you’re getting good old American design know-how with your watch. The chrono, pictured here, looks pretty cool, and they also have an oversized military piece and something called the Tank which looks like a tank… → Read More
I never though about it before, but Apple doesn’t have a store in Brooklyn. Considering how popular Brooklyn is and the amount of Apple users you can find anywhere you look, it would be a perfect match for the company. Now, in a move that is sure to please Brooklynites, the NY Post is reporting that the Madison Retail Group is trying to get a space in a brand new condo building for an Apple… → Read More
