    Mayfield Fund’s Tim Chang: The Future Is In Making Data Fun [TCTV]

    Mayfield Fund managing partner Tim Chang is going long on the idea of the “quantified self,” which is about using the latest in both hardware and software technology to keep detailed tabs of people’s daily habits in the hopes of gradually improving their lives. Chang has written a three-part series of really interesting articles about the quantified self for TechCrunch in recent weeks, so we were pleased to have the chance to interview him on TechCrunch TV to hear him explain in a bit more detail about the space and where it’s going.

    SolarCity Wins $21.5 Million Funding Round from Mayfield

    SolarCity today announced that it is taking a $21.5 million round of funding led by Mayfield Fund, and the company’s previous investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DBL Investors and Generation Capital. The company’s prior funding totaled approximately $134 million, and included investors First Solar, JP Morgan and Elon Musk.

    SolarCity helps businesses, home owners and government agencies adopt solar power. It designs, installs and provides finance options for appropriate solar systems with a goal of helping its customers generate savings from clean power versus electricity generated from non-renewables. → Read More

    Mayfield Fund Leads $8 Million Round Of Funding For Cloud9 Analytics

    Cloud9 Analytics, a provider of SaaS business analytics for line-of-business managers, today announced it has closed its Series C financing for $8 million. The financing round was led by Mayfield Fund, with participation from existing investors InterWest Partners and Leapfrog Ventures. This brings its total in funding to $21.6 million.

    Sean Moriarty, Rajeev Chawla Join Mayfield Fund As Entrepreneurs-In-Residence

    Menlo Park, CA-based Mayfield Fund, founded over 40 years ago, has officially announced the expansion of its team with two noteworthy Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs): Sean Moriarty and Rajeev Chawla.

    Moriarty is the former CEO and President of Ticketmaster who recently joined Eventbrite as a director. Rajeev Chawla founded and is the former President & CEO of NeoPath Networks, which was acquired by Cisco Systems in March 2007. → Read More
