[photopress:hagglebbcc.jpg, full, center] The economy isn’t doing so hot and Manchester United seems to be marching toward its second consecutive title. We’re all doomed, in other words. But hey, did you know that you can get $20 off a pair of speakers on Sixth Avenue? The Times has a piece today exploring the issue of haggling in the year 2008. It seems the terrible economy… Read More

  • How a lost laptop could cost Best Buy $54 million

[photopress:raelyn_2.jpg,full,left]This is a tale of poor customer service and aggravated lawsuits and lost laptops, all things we love. Raelyn Campbell is suing Best Buy for $54 million after the electronics lost a laptop she’d brought in for repairs. That seems very high, but Campbell believes that the money she’s asking for isn’t just about the lost laptop but rather for… Read More

  • Sprint is once again dreaming about WiMAX

Recent shakeups at Sprint have caused many to speculate that the WiMAX deal they had going with Clearwire would be dead in the water, but recently appointed CEO Dan Hesse is proving the naysayers wrong and looking to bring it back up to speed. What Hesse has done is put together a plan that would bring in outside funding by forming a joint venture with Google, Intel and Best Buy. Read More

  • 80GB PS3 being pulled by Best Buy?

Not sure if this is legit, but apparently the 80GB version of the PS3 is going to be pulled off the shelves on or before January 28th. Best Buy is purportedly only going to be carrying the 40GB version. Rumors of a $299 PS3 are continuing to swirl after this internal letter was leaked. Oh, and what the heck does it mean when it says there isn’t a version that’s compatible with… Read More

  • Best Buy guys caught switching up merchandise in theft ring

We’ve heard tales of people buying electronics, getting them home, and opening them just to find, well, not what they’d purchased. It’s been suggested that store employees had been swinging the ol’ switcharoo, and now a trio of thieving associates at a Best Buy in New Jersey (natch) have been caught red-handed doing just such unlawful misdeedery. Michael Lombardozzi… Read More

  • CrunchDeals: Buy one HD DVD/Blu-ray, get one free at Best Buy

It seems that a few of you have made the switch to HD or will be in a matter of days so you may want to hop on over to Best Buy and slowly build that collection of HD movies to go along with said HDTV and HD player. Both lists are rather impressive, but I may have to tip my hat to HD DVD because of Transformers, though I have a thing for vampire movies and Kate Beckinsale is not unattractive… Read More

  • Rumors say Best Buy is sitting on tons of Wiis, playing keep away

Why they’re doing this we’re not sure… Read More

  • Dell making its way to Best Buy

In a move that isn’t very surprising, Dell will begin selling computers in Best Buy stores next month. It certainly makes sense considering the general public has become very hands-on. Sure, prices on the Web are cheap, but do you want hardware that reflects the… Read More

  • Reviewer fired/quits over Kane & Lynch review

It seems Jeff Gerstmann, formerly of Gamespot, had a falling out with management over a review of Kane & Lynch and either was fired or left of his own accord. The game’s maker, Eidos, was upset by his unfair assessment of this holiday blockbuster featuring Dean Kane and Willie Lynch, two gun-toting country western singers who are out to fight the mob in downtown Toronto. The game is… Read More

Doors open at 5am and you’ll need to get there early enough to get a ticket (so as to avoid a stampede) just to buy certain… Read More
