England fans, vent your frustration on London's World Cup Twitter wall
Brand agency, The Brand Union, is projecting a giant World Cup themed Twitter wall on one side of its Farringdon, London offices. Dubbed ‘The Footwall‘, tweets via the @thefootwall account are being sent to the wall so that Londoners can vent their World Cup frustrations collectively and share their elation, which for England fans could be a long time coming.
The Brand Union, owned by WPP, is also a partner in England’s bid to stage the 2018 World Cup, so it’s a fitting campaign. Perhaps demonstrating that we “get” social media will give the bid the upper hand?
On that note, Paul Wood, Account Director for The Brand Union, says: “It’s about relevance. Many companies use social media to be seen to be keeping up, but consumers are interested in relevance to create social currency.”
OK, perhaps not but it was worth a try.
