HTC Desire headed for AT&T, Sprint picks up Legend (as Hero2)?

HTC seemed pretty confident that the HTC Desire and HTC Legend weren’t US-bound when we talked to them at Mobile World Congress. But hey, things change — right? Boy Genius Report has just received word that the two handsets are bound for this side of the ocean, along with details on which carriers might be nabbing them. → Read More

Hackers hack goodies from the HTC Desire over to the Nexus One in no time flat

Back when we first got word that the HTC Desire was essentially a slightly upgraded Nexus One with a bit of customization on HTC’s part, we knew there wasn’t much to worry about for recent Nexus One purchasers; the very vast majority of the Desire’s upperhand was all in the software, which was bound to be hacked over eventually.

What we didn’t know, however, was just how fast it would happen. → Read More

The Android Who Cried Wolf

Currently, Google has one of the more interesting problems I’ve ever seen. While I’d never tell anyone to slow down their pace of innovation, with Android, I can’t help but wonder if Google might have to do just that — because it’s seriously starting to trip over itself.

This week’s Mobile World Congress is highlighting this exact problem. Yesterday, we saw not one, but two new sexy Android phones announced just by HTC alone. HTC, you may recall, is the manufacturer of the Nexus One, the Android phone that Google felt so comfortable with, it decided to sell itself. Now, just over a month later, at least one of these new phones, the Desire, is simply a better version of the Nexus One. Consumers must be getting whiplash at this point. → Read More

Hands-on with the HTC Desire (with video)

Considering just how similar the new HTC Desire is to the not-quite-as-new Google Nexus One (read: very, very similar), I wasn’t expecting to walk away from my hands on session with my mind too blown. I mean, it’s essentially just a Nexus One with HTC’s Sense UI and an optical trackpad, right? Right – and that’s exactly why it’s amazing. → Read More

Video: HTC Legend, Desire, and HD mini promo spots (Update: More videos!)

We’re not sure when HTC plans to make these videos available through their own channels, but we just got a trio of videos showing off the three handsets they just announced at Mobile World Congress: the HTC Desire, HD mini, and Legend. Check out all three after the jump. → Read More

HTC announces the Nexus One's slightly cooler twin, the Desire

What’s in a name? Would a Nexus One by any other name still be as sweet? Yep. In fact, it might just be a bit sweeter. Though it lacks almost any indication as such, Google’s Nexus One is actually made by HTC. HTC reserved the rights to the hardware design, and today they’re making good use of that decision with the announcement of the HTC Desire. It’s essentially the Nexus One reflavored to HTC’s liking. → Read More

Details and official pics of the HTC Desire, Legend, and HD Mini leaked

Man! Mobile World Congress is all about the last-minute leaks this year. First, a tiny glimpse of Windows Phone leaked out just hours before it became official. Now, three brand-spankin’ new handsets from HTC have just leaked out, just one day before HTC’s press conference where we can only assume these devices were supposed to debut. → Read More

HTC Desire gets FCC and Wi-Fi Alliance approval – Verizon bound?

Uh oh! Looks like the Motorola Sholes isn’t the only Android-totin’ kid hanging around on Verizon’s block. According to BGR, Verizon’s cracking away at an HTC-made Android handset called Desire, which they plan to launch shortly after the standard approvals and regulations are dotted and crossed. And what do you know? Both the FCC and the Wi-Fi Alliance just gave it the thumbs up. Expect more news sooner than later. → Read More

Rumor: HTC Desire 6200 to be Verizon's next Google device?

Hold on tight kids, there’s another Google-powered HTC phone coming. Looking at the screen shot, it’s going to be called the HTC Desire 6200, and it’ll be specifically listed as a Google product. There’s not a whole lot more information available, other than this leak, which appears to have come from a Costco employee. We’ll keep you informed as more news becomes available. → Read More
