    First full day as Twitter COO tomorrow. Task #1: undermine CEO, consolidate power.

    That was Dick Costolo on September 13, 2009.

    Today, just over one year later, Costolo has done it. Someone roll out the Mission Accomplished banner!

    Costolo, who is a very funny guy, was obviously kidding at the time. But talk of him taking over as Twitter CEO has also been around for a long time. Twitter is seen by some as one of the next huge tech empires, but they need to be making money in order to get there. And that was Costolo’s job. And now he has even more power to do so.

    Well, if he can find time between photo-shoots, that is.
