RadioShack to sell 3G Aspire One for $99 with AT&T

And the subsidization of 3G-equipped netbooks starts to slowly take shape here in the US. Starting Sunday, RadioShack will be selling the Acer Aspire One for $99 with a two-year contract from AT&T at $60 per month for 5GB of high speed data. Novatel intros ‘MiFi’ mobile broadband router

Novatel might be on to something with its MiFi device. It’s basically a rechargeable, portable wireless router that ingests mobile data signals and spits them back out as standard Wi-Fi. The company is calling the technology an “Intelligent Mobile Hotspot,” in case you were longing for some industry jargon. Verizon halves EVDO overage charges, shows that the wireless data cartel cares about consumers

EVDOinfo.com is reporting that Verizon has halved its per-megabyte overage fees for EVDO data and will set a cap of $250 per month in maximum fees for any three of a customer’s billing cycles. After that, subscribers will be subject to unlimited, non-capped overage charges. So if you go over your 5GB limit by one extra gigabyte, it could cost you $256. AT&T buys big chunk of 700MHz wireless spectrum

AT&T got the okay by the FCC to purchase 12MHz-worth of the 700MHz wireless spectrum owned by Aloha Spectrum Holdings (covered here in October) for $2.5 billion. This slice “covers 196 million of the 303 million U.S. residents and includes 72 of the top 100 media markets in the country,” according to IDG News Service. AT&T to buy big chunk of 700MHz wireless spectrum

Oh what $2.5 billion buys nowadays. AT&T will be purchasing 281 markets-worth of licenses in the 700MHz frequency band from Aloha, a company based out of Providence, Rhode Island and "the largest owner of 700MHz spectrum in the US." → Read More
