The Disrupt Hackathon Takes Over London’s Copper Box Arena

Our Disrupt London hackathon is officially underway. More than 1,000 people have registered to compete — by this time tomorrow, they’ll form teams, build new products and present them on-stage.

We’re in a new venue this year, the Copper Box Arena, originally built for the 2012 Summer Olympics. The doors opened at 12:30pm, but before then, the most dedicated hackers braved the chilly London wind to line up outside.

Katie Roof and I took the opportunity to interview a few of them, finding a mix of neophytes and veterans — even a romantic couple who first met at a hackathon. We can’t promise similarly sweet stories from the rest of the event, but hey, you can always hope …

Tickets to Disrupt London are still available and can be purchased here.
