This is twunbelievable! Tweetup makes Oxford Dictionary
I know, that’s twunbelievable! Seriously.
For those of you who don’t know what a tweetup is, it’s a gathering of people – a meet up – arranged through Twitter often so that users of the microblogging platform can actually meet up for perhaps the first time. It’s a fun concept but seems a bit too niche to make the Oxford Dictionary.
Other Internet-related terms to make the grade this year are paywall and netbook. The latter I seem to remember was part of a trade mark dispute, so I’m not sure where having it be acknowledged by the Oxford Dictionary as a generic term in the public consciousness leaves it now.
On that note, TweetUp is also the name of a startup in the Twitter space.
