Video: Flash 10.1 shown running on Android 2.2 totin' Nexus One
Now, I don’t want to get into the HTML5 vs Flash debate, but I will say that this implementation of Flash seems pretty tight, and until the HTML5 divide has been bridged, this seems like a fine solution to enable current web content on your Android handset.
Of course, a lot of anti-Flash arguments centre around the CPU/battery life strain that accompanies Flash, and a 6 minute video does little to show how the issue has been addressed, so we’ll probably have to wait until Android 2.2 (Froyo) makes its way onto the public’s handsets some time in June.
Another highlight of the video is the glimpse of the new Froyo homescreen, which hints at an updated launcher, search widget and tutorial.
Android 2.2 is expected to be announced at Google I/O later this month, so expect more videos to surface after then. Until that time, though, enjoy this little preview.
