Wiimote-like Xbox 360 controller coming this fall, PS3 version next year

Initially unveiled way back in September of last year, the “Gametrak Freedom” motion sensing remote control for Xbox 360 and the PS3 has undergone a bit of a makeover and is currently on display at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
IGN reports that the controller will be available this fall for the Xbox 360, “with a PS3 variation potentially following next year.” The Freedom bears a striking resemblance to the Nintendo Wii remote and will ship with a USB-port base station connected to two wands that sit on either side of your TV. Unlike the Wii remote, the Freedom won’t require line-of-sight but will instead use “ultrasonic 3D positioning” to relay the remote’s position via a series of pulses.

Third-party game support is expected for the Freedom though the remote will ship with a game developed in-house called Squeeballs, which is basically a series of mini games featuring characters reminiscent of Madballs from the mid eighties.
No word on exact pricing or availability dates yet.
