Last week we heard about the SupaBoy, a sweet Ben Heck-esque hack of a Super Nintendo console into a SNES controller shape. It’s got all the ports you need, plays cartridges, and everything. At the time there was no info on price or date, but Hyperkin has just sent out a press release rectifying that.
The SupaBoy will cost $80 and will launch in “Summer 2011,” which is a pretty wide spread. We’ll probably have to updated again when it’s actually available, because this thing is cool.
If you were a Sega kid, check out the Retro-Bit handheld Genesis; it only has games built in, but you could probably hack it or something. It’s an awesome little gadget.

With a 3.5 Inch Screen that Plays SNES Cartridges

The SupaBoy will play original SNES cartridges on a built-in 3.5” LCD screen and is designed to emulate an original SNES controller including a D-pad and buttons on the front as well as right and left shoulder buttons. Hyperkin has even included two front loading ports that are compatible with full-size SNES controllers and video/audio out, allowing up to two players to play the SupaBoy on a regular TV screen. SupaBoy will be compatible with multiple SNES titles including: Super Mario™ RPG, Starfox™, Super Mario™ World, Donkey Kong™ Country, Zelda™, Noah’s Ark 3D™, Aerobiz™ and others.
