There are a lot of good ideas at this collection of DIY lighting solutions for those of us who can’t actually afford a nice ring flash or light tent. Don’t be put off by the first one, which is actually made up of six $400 SpeedLites — hardly a budget item. But I think I may actually try the milk jug ring flash.

If you’re getting into your new DSLR but don’t want to drop more than a couple bills on flash solutions, this is a great resource. With a few household materials and some dedication, you can ape the best setups at virtually no cost.
