Samsung just announced that its Galaxy Note 10.1 is headed to Verizon with 4G LTE connectivity. And if that weren’t enough, the S-Pen-enabled tablet will ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
If you are unfamiliar with the GalNote 10.1, it brings the screen real estate of a tablet to the creative power afforded by the Galaxy Note smartphone. By including support for the Wacom-esque S-Pen stylus, Samsung hopes to provide a new level of personalization and creativity to the digital experience.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 packs 2GB of RAM and a 1.4GHz Exynos quad-core processor under the hood, and comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB flavors with support for further storage expansion via microSD support. It comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing camera for video chat.
You can pick one up in both black and white, though it’s unclear if both colors will be available in Verizon’s 4G version. We’re unsure about the date and pricing but we’re waiting to hear more.
Samsung has majority shares in TVs, smartphones, and is a leader in appliances, cameras, etc. but tablets are a new territory for the ancient company. Expanding distribution through Verizon while adding support for the carrier’s blazing 4G LTE network only makes sense when the iPad continues to dominate the tablet market.
