Malaysia Air allows cell phone usage
Using AeroMobile’s satellite equipment passengers will be allowed to send/receive phone calls as well as text messages and e-mails. Normal roaming charges will apply.
“This is one of the in-flight service comforts that we are introducing on a trial basis for our customers,” says MAS chief executive Idris Jala. “With this facility, we definitely have a competitive edge and firmly believe that both our business and leisure passengers will very much welcome this new service,” he added.
Passengers are encouraged to switch their ringers off, though. Yeah, because that’s the most annoying part of allowing cell phones on flights.
