The new investment comes from existing investors Peter Gabriel and Eden Ventures, along with Qualcomm Incorporated (via its venture capital function) and Pentech Ventures, and will be used primarily for further European expansion (“multiple countries”) and to consolidate its position in the UK. → Read More

I typically hear from VCs these days when they are either doing a big, growth capital round, a follow-on funding, an investment in concert with a syndicate or…. bleeeeeeeeep (as in not at all). The rise of the “Super Angels”, a trend TechCrunch Europe was first to call in 2008, seems to be putting paid to VC’s involvement in early stage.

BaseKit, which lets designers build websites from a Photoshop concept without the need to write code, has secured a $2.6m Series A round from Eden Ventures and NESTA (the UK’s National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts).
NewVoiceMedia, which offers a cloud-based contact centre solution, has raised £4m in VC funding from Eden Ventures and Notion Capital, the fund established last year by Jos and Ben White, founders of Messagelabs.
