IDENTEC Group, a global RFID solutions provider, announced today that it has completed a $7.5 million equity capital round with private investors. IDENTEC says it serves more than 2,000 customers in 16 industries.
The company currently holds 100% or significant ownership in nine RFID solutions businesses and boasts sales and marketing operations in the US, including four US-based RFID companies. → Read More
Global Telecom & Technology (GTT), a global carrier and network integrator, has acquired privately-held UK company PacketExchange in an effort to scale its business internationally. GTT will pay up to $20 million in cash and assumed debt to buy PacketExchange, which serves approximately 500 customers (carriers, ISPs, etc.).
PacketExchange is said to generate over $20 million in annualized revenue post-acquisition. → Read More
Software AG, a provider of business process management solutions with revenues of €1.1 billion in 2010, has acquired Terracotta, which develops and markets software for application scalability, availability and performance.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but I’m told the deal value amounted to “upper-middle double digits” (in millions of euros). Terracotta has raised over $23 million in funding from investors like Accel Partners, DAG Ventures, Benchmark Capital and Goldman Sachs. → Read More
San Francisco-based SQLstream, which provides a standards-based stream computing platform that enables its clients to harness and monetize their real-time service and sensor data, has raised $6 million from Fontinalis Partners.

Flash memory storage solutions provider SanDisk has acquired Pliant Technology, a developer of enterprise solid state drives, the company announced this morning.

Virtualization software giant VMware this morning announced that it has agreed to acquire Shavlik Technologies, a provider of cloud-based IT management solutions for small and medium businesses.

Cambridge, UK-based infrastructure software company Autonomy this morning announced that it is acquiring a number of assets of Iron Mountain‘s digital division – including the latter’s archiving, e-discovery and online backup business units – for $380 million in cash.

NASDAQ-listed Limelight Networks this morning announced the acquisition of AcceloWeb, a Tel Aviv-based provider of technology that helps speed the presentation of websites and applications. We wrote about the company back in July 2009 when it was still called FasterWeb.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, but we’ve learned that the transaction was completed with a combination of Limelight Networks common stock and cash. Founded in 2008, AcceloWeb is headquartered in Israel with US offices in Boston. → Read More
NVIDIA this morning announced its acquisition of Icera, which provides baseband processors for 3G and 4G cellular phones and tablets.
The acquisition, for $367 million in cash, has been approved by both companies’ boards of directors and is expected to be completed, subject to customary closing conditions, in approximately 30 days. → Read More
Consumer device chip maker Broadcom has acquired SC Square, a security software maker based in Tel Aviv, Israel, the company announced over the weekend.
Broadcom will pay $41.9 million, net of cash, to purchase all of the outstanding shares of capital stock and other equity rights of SC Square, which provides a number of chip security and communication products and solutions. → Read More
Cloud Sherpas, a Google Apps reseller that also helps enterprises migrate to and manage the productivity suite, is announcing a milestone today and is upgrading its offering with a number of new features.
Cloud Sherpas not only helps companies migrate and transition over to Google Apps but also provides additional tools, called Sherpa Tools, to make the productivity suite more useful. For example, the Directory Manager provides administrators with an interface for creating, retrieving, updating and deleting in-depth profile information for end users, shared contacts and groups. UK-based security software maker Sophos has acquired Astaro, a privately-held provider of network security solutions.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Astaro booked $56 million in billings last year, which makes it the fourth largest dedicated unified threat management (UTM) provider in the world. → Read More
Kaminario, a provider of SSD storage products, this morning announced that it has secured $15 million in Series C financing. Existing backers Sequoia and Pitango were joined this time by new investor Globespan Capital Partners, whose managing director Venky Ganesan will take a seat on Kaminario’s board.
Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, with an Israel-based R&D division, this latest round brings Kaminario’s total funding to $34 million. → Read More

CenturyLink this morning announced that it will acquire all outstanding shares of Savvis common stock in a cash and stock merger valued at $40 per share, or a total of approximately $2.5 billion, plus net debt of approximately $0.7 billion which will be assumed or refinanced at close.
Under the terms of the transaction, Savvis stockholders will receive $30 per share in cash and $10 in shares of CenturyLink common stock. The consideration represents an 11 percent premium over Savvis’ closing stock price as of the close of trading on April 26, 2011. → Read More
Lawson Software, a global provider of enterprise software, this morning announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by GGC Software Holdings, an affiliate of private equity investment firm Golden Gate Capital and Infor. The transaction has a total value of approximately $2 billion.
Under the terms of the merger agreement, stockholders of Lawson will receive $11.25 per share in cash, a premium of about 14 percent to Lawson’s closing share price on March 7, 2011, the last trading day prior to news reports speculating about a potential deal brewing. → Read More
