HotelTonight Adds Projected Pricing And Availability To Its Last-Minute Booking App

HotelTonight is introducing a new feature that should make users feel a little more confident about whether they can count on getting a room through the same-day booking app.

With the new feature, HotelTonight users can now tap the “Look Ahead” button, which will show them estimated rates and availability for the next seven days. It will also display events, such as big conferences, that will probably affect the demand for hotel rooms.

Co-founder and CEO Sam Shank argued that the Look Ahead feature allows users to “plan to be spontaneous.” For example, you might be not be sure whether you’ll need a hotel on a given night, but because you’re worried that local festival will make it hard to get an affordable room, you make the reservation weeks in advance anyway.

But now you can check HotelTonight ahead of time and feel comfortable making the reservation at the last minute, because you know, in Shank’s words, “We’ve got your back.”

Scenario 3 Conference

He added that HotelTonight is “very confident” about its Look Ahead estimates. He said the system was initially built for internal use at the company and is now being released to users since the team has “proved to ourselves” that it works.

“The hotels really like this too,” Shank said. “It helps fill the rooms up and bringing guests that are incremental to them by giving them more ways to be spontaneous.”

Look Ahead projections will initially be available in New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego and Dallas.
