Those of you who have witnessed some of my “Panel Dome” basement guitar demos will be relieved to see an actual guitarist demo AmpKit’s software. It was a treat to hang out with Skolnick, who plays lead guitar for metal shredders Testament as well as the jazzy Alex Skolnick Trio, and hear him play. In this final segment of my SXSW 2011 coverage, Alex took a few moments to show me how he uses the guitar modeling software created by Agile Partners to create custom jazz tones. I apologize in advance for my hit-or-miss mic work and shakey-cam (it was a bit frantic off stage right after the performance) however you can hear the guitar tones during the demo and that is what counts. Video below.
