Twitter’s Biz Stone just reeled off some key, and very long awaited stats at Chirp. The stats:

    • Twitter has 105,779,710 registered users.
    • It gets 300,000 new users a day.
    • It receives 180 Million Unique visitors a month.
    • And 75% of traffic comes from outside of Twitter.com

The numbers are a bit confusing because you don’t have to be a registered user to visit Twitter.com, and 75 percent of usage comes from other apps, which really underscores the importance of outside developers. CEO Evan Williams later on noted that developers are making 3 billion requests a day through the APIs.

Another stat: Twitter now has 175 employees, up from 25 a year ago.

    Company: Twitter
    Website: twitter.com
    Launch Date: March 21, 2006
    Funding: $1.16B

Created in 2006, Twitter is a global real-time communications platform with 400 million monthly visitors to twitter.com, more than 200 million monthly active users around the world. We see a billion tweets every 2.5 days on every conceivable topic. World leaders, major athletes, star performers, news organizations and entertainment outlets are among the millions of active Twitter accounts through which users can truly get the pulse of the planet.
