So, good luck to all those startup teams attending Launch48 in London in a couple of weeks. What’s Launch48 you say? Here’s the schpeel:

Launch48 runs events for people who want to try to learn and launch a web business. On Friday the 16th of October we are running a conference with some of the best web entrepreneurs from the UK speaking about marketing, PR, business, technical, and design in regards to launching a web business. From Friday 16th Oct in the evening to Sunday 18th October we are running the Launch48 weekend – a 48 hour event grouping people into teams to create new web businesses. During the weekend participants network, build a new business, and learn from a range of experienced mentors from the web industry.

In other words if you have a startup you want to find out will work or not, then hot-housing it for 48 hours may well help you decide.

One thing I like about the Launch48 guys is that they are all real startup people.

All the other events that go on will probably now bitch at me for not plugging theirs. But this is not yet another damn networking even over a warm glass of chardonnay. This is 48 hours to produce at least the bare bones of a startup. That’s cool.

Ticket sales are now open and numbers are limited (It’s £100 for the whole weekend £60.00 full price to attend the weekend) but as a special offer to TechCrunch Europe readers, we’ve secured 50% off the normal ticket price for 20 participants if they use the code L48M-4589-TC. Good luck!

    Hi Mike,

For the record it is only £60.00 full price to attend the weekend (£10) and the conference (£50).

Thanks for the post, and you’re right – we are “not yet another damn networking even over a warm glass of chardonnay”

    Hope to see you there!

I felt in love with Launch48 #1 last February. Ian and Adil (the organisers) are awesome and deserve a great success. The fact that I’m helping them with the organisation is a clear symptom of how I got carried away by the whole idea. I may be biased because the idea I pitched last time was selected and developed but I’m confident that the event was and will be great for each attendee.
A fact that speaks louder than any other… VouChaCha (http://vouchacha.com) started at Launch48 and was selected for Mini Seedcamp AND the whole Seedcamp week, so Launch48 is not just for pet projects, it’s to start real – successful – businesses.

PS: my thingy is http://ilikeucoz.com/ and I’m looking for developers! ;) No cash but equity/options

    I forgot one thing…

Mike, this is the kind of writing/mentality I liked about you since we met a good 2.5-ish years ago and I kinda missed it lately :) Well done!
