We hardly knew you, Circuit City, but word today is that you’ll be completely liquidated. You will be missed, sorta.

Yeah, so even though Circuit City had already closed more than 150 stores—my local one remained open—it’s been decided that all of the stores are to be closed. I guess that leaves Best Buy as the only national electronics retailer, right?

I always used to go to Circuit City when I wanted to pick up a game or whatever, since there was hardly any line and there was never a shortage. (That’s probably not a good thing, the store always being empty.) When I picked up Xbox Live back in 2002 Best Buy was completely sold out. Drive across the street to Circuit City, bam, Xbox Live starter kits as far as the eye can see.
