It seems that Apple has loosened its iron grip on the iPhone by letting AT&T not only sell the phone online, but also allowing consumers to self-activate it at home. Crazy, I know. Previously, the phone could purchased online, but you still had to trek to a AT&T or Apple location for activation. It actually works out well for gift giving.
