Revolutionary!

Paramount Pictures will debut “Jackass 2.5″ on the Internet next week, the first time a major studio will premiere a movie online. The movie, which consists of footage cut from “Jackass 2,” is about 90 minutes long and will stream for free on Blockbuster’s Movielink.

The Will Be Ads.

Yup, before and after the movie streams, you’ll be subjected to 15- or 30-second ads. Thanks, Paramount!

Casting aside my cynicism for a second, yes, this is fairly significant. It’s an experiment to see whether or not Web movies are a viable venture. I’d like to know how they plan on figuring out how many people see the movie.
