I thought UMPCs were dead, but Intel is telling me different. Anand Chandrasekher, SVP and GM of Intel’s UM group, is set to announce that the chipmaker will be adding options for WiMax and 3G support to Menlow UMPC devices running Windows or Linux. The Menlow chip package includes the upcoming Silverthorne processor and single-chip Poulsbo chipset. We should be seeing it pop up on the market in early 2008. Seriously, who has a UMPC? I’d really like to know.
