Glu Mobile Inc, the publisher that brought you Diner Dash, plans to release Diner Dash 2 around the world this fall. This will be Glu’s third title developed and published with its partner, PlayFirst, Inc., a publisher of casual games. The original Diner Dash went mobile in 2006, and over one million people have been slinging electronic hash ever since.
“The Diner Dash franchise in one of the biggest hits in the casual gaming industry,” said Jill Braff, senior vice president of global publishing at Glu. “For all the people out there craving seconds on their mobile Diner Dash experience, we’re excited to let you know that Diner Dash 2 will be coming to phones this fall.”
Maybe Flo, the main character in Diner Dash should have gotten into the casual gaming industry instead. A report published jointly by DFC Intelligence and the Casual Games Association, says there are 60 million casual game downloads every month. By 2008, the market is estimated to reach $1.5 billion worldwide. That’s a lot of cups of coffee.
