After a weekend of speculation, Engadget has finally gotten to the bottom of the mystery of the $99 HD DVD player that will be available at the Home Media Expo in Las Vegas this week. The deal, which looked at first like some sort of massive CE dump on the market, is actually only available to conference attendees. Ticket prices for the show can hit about $500 so if you’re really into HD DVD don’t live near Las Vegas, you might as well just pick a player up at Best Buy.
