Let me state that $50,250 for an amp is outrageous. I don’t care how great it is even if it poops out gold bricks. Anywho, the Hovland Stratos is an uber-high-end mono block power amp. The Stratos promises “power, poise and precision based on 20 years of research” (whatever). This claim is apparently the reason for the astronomical price tag. The internals of the Stratos permit the amp to deliver balanced audio with a shocking 400W of power into 8 ohms, 625W into 4 ohms and 800W into 2 ohms. The Stratos is a fatty fat fat, weighing in at 90 lbs. Good luck Hovland, you’re gonna need it.
