Google Tops Global Branding List

To the left, you’ll see Google’s logo. You’ve seen it before a kajillion times, and know what it is without actually having to read the word “google”. That’s because it’s the number one brand in the world, according to Brand Channel, who interviewed thousands of branding students and professionals and published its report today.

Second place goes to Apple, with MySpace and Al Jazeera falling within the top 20 and YouTube and Wikipedia making good headway. While the survey wasn’t the most scientific (it only surveyed those in the industry, not the general populace of the Earth), it’s a telling as to what trends we can expect from branding in the near future. In this case, garish multi-colored lettering and serifed fonts.
