The word is that the TiVo Series 3 HD-capable DVR is going to hit the streets on September 17th. Apparently the device is now showing up in the systems of many retailers. It is reported that the Series 3 DVRs will retail for $799.

The Series 3 has HDMI functionality and can run dual CableCards. It also sports an eSATA interface, which allows users to add an external SATA drive for extra storage. I want one.
