Daily Crunch: Network Error Edition

Philips announced the arrival of ambient intelligence in adventure gaming yesterday, which isn’t too shabby. They signed up THQ to deliver its eagerly anticipated game, Broken Sword: The Angel of Death using their amBX lighting technology.

amBX represents a step forward in the development of ambient intelligence and will try to revolutionize the gameplay experience by extending the gaming world out of the screen and into the real world. amBX will provide gamers with a full “sensory surround experience” by empowering developers with the ability to use light, color, sound and even air flow in the real world, during gameplay.

“Blending a scripting language, software engine and architecture, the
amBX platform has been designed to deliver all-new player experiences
through enabled devices such as LED color-controlled lights, active
furniture, fans, heaters, audio and video, all placed strategically
around a player’s room.”

Fans? Heaters? Active furniture? Sounds like my grandma’s old room.
