Spurred by the addition of Megan Smith as the United States Chief Technology Officer in the Office of Science and Technology Policy, the White House held it's first demo day of promising technology startups for press and certain members of the public. The event was less to find venture funding and more to highlight a recent version of the "Rooney Rule" that various businesses will implement in order to elevate women and minorities in the hiring process.
