The 2012 Crunchies will be our sixth annual competition and award ceremony to recognize and celebrate the most compelling startups, internet and technology innovations of the year.
The Crunchies will be co-hosted by GigaOm, VentureBeat, and TechCrunch. Best of all, the internet community is invited to choose who wins. Nominations for the Crunchies will open on November 1st, 2012 and will close on December 6th, 2012.
The Crunchies award ceremony takes place on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco with the ceremony beginning at 7:30 pm. It’s an elegant venue that has hosted some of the greatest musical performances in history, just the type of setting to host the most influential technology awards ceremony.
Our host for the evening is John Oliver, who has been a writer and correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart since 2006, and he’s also had his own Comedy Central series, John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show, since 2009. He’s also had multiple Writers Guild and Emmy Nomination for his writing on The Daily Show and won the Emmy Award for Best Comedy Writing In A Comedy or Variety Series in both 2009 and 2011.
Following the Crunchies Awards, the Davies will provide a festive playground for this year’s after party. As always there will be a hosted bar, hors d’oeuvres, intriguing interactive entertainment, and other fun surprises.
The after party begins immediately following the ceremony at 9 pm until 11:30 pm. Admission to the party is included with a purchase of an Awards Ceremony ticket.
