Trip Glasses promise fast track to meditation, hallucination

There are numerous health benefits brought about by daily meditation but, let’s face it, who has time to sit quietly with a clear mind until you reach a harmonious enough state to access the Akashic Records any more? Not me! I’m a blogger! So it’s nice to know that there’s a bullet train to Bliss Junction in the form of this $40 "Sound & Light Brain-Machine" from ThinkGeek.

The term "machine" is used a bit loosely, as this apparatus appears to be little more than LCD glasses with trippy colors and patterns hooked up to i-Doser style audio tracks pumped through a set of headphones.

According to the product description:

"These new Trip Glasses bring a bit of the Woodstock era to the modern day. They allow you to safely meditate, hallucinate, trip out and generally relax with your eyes gently closed. The built-in LEDs will flash in sequences that your brain will naturally try to interpret, resulting in various beautiful patterns produced by your own mind."

And perhaps they’re indeed able to coax your brain into a more alpha-like state with all the flashing and whatnot. Or, they "may cause seizures," as the product page warns.

Either way, I may just try to get my hands on a review unit to see what all the fuss is about.
