Google Shuts Down Chinese Search, Redirects To Hong Kong

Google has shut down it’s Chinese search site at Google.cn and is now redirecting visitors to Google.com.hk. This is in response to the widely reported cyber attack on Google in December, Google confirms.

Users are being redirected for Google web, news and image search to the Hong Kong site, which sits outside of the Chinese firewall. Users are also being presented with simplified Chinese in addition to traditional Chinese and English results.

Google’s music search and maps products will remain live, says the company. And Google will retain research and development and sales teams in China.
