GeekBrief.TV #265

Today’s Brief is half about software and half a conversation with Tim Ferriss, author of the best-selling book, The 4-Hour Work Week. We start with a new update for Zoho Writer that makes it possible to now edit documents off-line. There’s a Zoho screencast explaining how it works here. I get a ton of email from EyeTV users. EyeTV brings an amazing DVR experience to the Mac. Remote Buddy is an application that allows EyeTV users to customize their remote controls. It’s been updated with support for over 100 applications and system parameters. The fireplace video in the background is from an experiment we’re doing at www.iyule.tv.

In my South by Southwest packet, there was a little flyer offering bloggers a review copy of a book called The 4-Hour Work Week. I filled out the form, got the book and started reading it. I kept talking to people about it and giving them my copy. I bought three copies before I finished. Tim joined me on Skype to talk about the book and a charitable initiative he calls Litliberation. What I like about the book is that it lays out explicit instructions for using technology to launch and run automated businesses. The uncut conversation is in my junk trunk.
