Fundraising Raffle for Paramilitary Body Armor! No, Really!

hs1558762_1.jpgToday, we’re giving away a 42″ HDTV. That’s a cool prize, but it’s not really unique. You’re a geek. You want a prize that says “I’ve got more nerdcred than you.” We’ve found a contest that you might like.

The makers of the Trojan line of infantry body armor are raffling off a full military-grade suit of body armor. They’re doing this to raise money for the development of next-gen armor for our fighting forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The armor is specially designed for use in these urban warfare environments, and the forthcoming models will provide better protection against the real threats of the conflicts, such as IEDs.

Tickets are $1 each, and you can buy however many you’d like. The idea is that with a little more R&D, the Trojan will be ready for military use. The inventor is that guy who made that awesome bear-proof suit back when, so you know he’s committed.

Yah, the wars suck, but it’s not the fault of our men and women over there. If you’re one of the “I support our troops but not the war” types, as I am, then this is your chance to put your money where your mouth is.

And, dude, you could end up with real honest-to-god body armor. Just like Batman.
