Hyvää päivää readers. (That’s good afternoon in Finnish in case you were wondering.) Nokia announced two versions of the mid-range 6500 and I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised. The ‘Classic’ version is a simple candybar style that’s fairly thin at 9.5mm, but it comes in a weird brownish anodized aluminum that makes me wonder what the Nokia designers were smoking. Aside from the color, the Classic has a 2-megapixel camera, 1GB of internal storage (like whoa!), microUSB slot, Bluetooth and it runs on quadband GSM with UMTS.

The ‘Slide’ ups the ante with an autofocus Carl Zeiss 3.2-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, microSD slot, integrated FM radio and TV out. It’s a tad bigger than the Classic, but it is a slider so I’m OK with its 16.4mm girth. Both versions of the 6500 will be available in Q3 with €320 and €370 price tags, respectively.
