ZoneAlarm Secure Wireless Router Z100G: It's The Software That Makes It Good

Anybody can go out and buy a wireless 802.11g router, but why not get one that has had its security software designed by a company that knows what it’s doing? ZoneAlarm, consumer division of Check Point, must’ve thought the same thing, so it went out and put together the ZoneAlarm Secure Wireless Router Z100G, a single-box solution for home networkers, families, gamers and home-office workers.

As you can see from the diagram, the Internet is a cloud of noxious gas (not a series of porn-congested tubes). Once it’s syphoned through your modem, the ZoneAlarm Secure Wireless Router Z100G takes that cloud and disseminates to your various computing devices, either wirelessly or via 10/100Mbps Ethernet. Of course ZoneAlarm’s specialty is putting the smackdown on any diseases your ones and zeros picked up from the Internet with its gateway anti-virus solution, along with stopping various other intrusions thanks to its generally excellent firewall.

The router will sell for $199, but a special promotional rate of $149 will be available through December 31, 2006. However, according to the company site, it is currently on backorder and will be available late November.
