The boom in the Internet of Things have given us a lot of amazing stuff: thermostats that let us turn on the heating before we get home; dog collars that let us track our pets when they slip away unnoticed; and cars that help us drive more safely just a few of them. But we're also the recipients of a lot of fluffy and questionable stuff too: this week at CES in Las Vegas, we saw a company that had put a sensor in your shoes to open them by way of an app; a "smart" aromatherapy machine; and a connected hairbrush that claimed to monitor the state of your mane as you combed your tresses. Do they hold up to the sniff test?
