Google Cardboard

Google Cardboard

Introduced at Google I/O 2014, Google Cardboard is a virtual reality (VR) platform invented by Google engineers David Coz and Damien Henry. A smartphone is inserted and a Google Cardboard–compatible app splits the smartphone display image into two. Lenses create a distortion effect and create the impression of a stereoscopic 3D image with a wide field of view.

Google provides for free on their website a list of parts, schematics and assembly instructions.
