It seems like Area 51 memes have rekindled interest in outer space, and the timing couldn’t be any more perfect! July 20th marked the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, where Neil Armstrong became the first human to step on the surface of the moon. The world has changed drastically since then, but space still remains the final frontier that fascinates scientists, sci-fi geeks, and young minds everywhere.

To commemorate this occasion,NASA has authorized Xeric Watches to deliver you  something special. Xeric is perhaps most known for their Trappist-1 Moonphase, whose design was dedicated to the discovery of the Trappist-1 system of planets which hold the potential for life. Xeric’s back again with a new take on the Trappist-1 Moonphase that any science or watch enthusiast will love.

The new Trappist-1 NASA Edition is currently on Kickstarter and can be preordered in automatic or quartz editions. The automatic edition uses a Japanese Miyota 82S0 movement with a custom Trappist-1 rotor to keep your watch charged without batteries. The quartz edition comes with an engraved 50th-anniversary commemorative case back of the Apollo 11 mission patch.

The Trappist-1 NASA Edition comes with a dial featuring a star map of the constellations surrounding Trappist-1, each of which is designed in luminous material that will allow your watch to glow beautifully in the dark. The dial is surrounded by a grille based on the new Cupola window on the International Space Station, as well as a crystal made out of Hesalite, which was developed specifically for space-bound watches. Finally, the Trappist-1 NASA Edition comes with a Horween leather strap with a ribbed design that pays tribute to the ridgelines seen on space gloves.

If you’re a space geek looking for your very own piece of history, or if you’re a watch enthusiast who appreciates quality construction and design, the Xeric Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Trappist-1 NASA Edition is the perfect timepiece to add to your collection. Back the Kickstarter now to get the automatic edition for $289 or the quartz edition for $179, or over 30% off MSRP
