How a Utah school district shifted to remote learning in the COVID-19 shutdown

Ven Savage at Morgan School District is the sole network operations resource for the five k-12 schools in his school district. When COVID-19 shut down schools and sent over 3,000 kids home along with faculty and the administration, he needed to keep the staff teaching and the students learning.

Savage was already using core network services, bundled as DDI, from Infoblox, which made the transition from in-person sessions to cloud-managed connections seamless for the hundreds of laptops the district issued. On top of enabling students and teachers to connect, he also had to remotely secure users from malware and problematic websites while ensuring the devices could content filter to the standards of compliance requirements for minors. He relied on Infoblox to activate foundational security in the cloud to protect these endpoints in a way that reduced false positives from 8-10 a day to a couple in the past few months.
