For those of you who are going to check out Ready Player One this weekend, you’ll see a world of virtual reality technologies that are far ahead of where we are now, but for the deep-pocketed geek you can actually get a deeply nerdy experience that checks a lot of futuristic boxes.
There are plenty of opportunities to get way too deep into the world of VR hardware, the issue is that so many of the more outlandish pieces of tech detailed here are in a developer kit phase that they likely may not emerge from and it’s certainly difficult to find content that makes use of all of these different peripherals. You could buy some ridiculous, expensive stuff if you desired, but I think that most of these products are more promising than they are gimmicky.
