Apple restores its Weather app following widespread issues

Apple says it has resolved issues with its Weather app after it was down for many users around the globe. The tech giant’s support page had indicated all morning that the app was experiencing ongoing issues, and that “this service may be slow or unavailable.” The issues with the app had started at around 11 p.m. ET on Monday, according to the company’s support page.

Users, including some TechCrunch staff, reported that they were unable to see any data when opening the app. The app’s widgets also weren’t working.

The issues came a few months after Apple shut down Dark Sky for iOS. The company started integrating Dark Sky’s capabilities into its Weather app years ago, which led to some nice improvements, but many users still miss the dedicated Dark Sky app.

Update 04/04/2023 3:30 PM ET: Article was updated to note that the issues have been resolved.
