Apple is going ‘Unleashed’ for an October 18 event

Hardware season isn’t over over yet. A day before Google’s big Pixel event, Apple’s getting one more (probably) swing at things with an “Unleashed” event on Monday, October 18. The company sent out invites for the announcement, which will once again be livestreamed from the company’s Cupertino headquarters.

The event, which kicks off at 10AM PT, comes just a smidge over a month after Apple’s last big event, which debuted a brand new iPhone and Apple Watch, among others. So, what does that leave? New Macs were the biggest question mark after the last event. The company is still in the midst of a two-year plan to upgrade all of its desktops and laptops to its in-house silicon. Perhaps we’ll be seeing that new MacBook Pro, with an upgraded version of last year’s M1 chip. A larger version of last year’s Arm-based iMac has been rumored, as well, along with a new Mac Mini.

Accessories like brand new AirPods also look like a reasonable possibility. So, what, precisely, constitutes “unleashed” in all of this? If the graphic is any indication, Apple’s invented some sort of warp-speed space travel. Stay tuned.
