On early Saturday morning New York’s state assembly passed legislation legalizing daily fantasy sports throughout the state.
The move was huge for the industry, as it means companies like DraftKings and FanDuel can restart offerings in the state, and also may serve as as indicator of similar legislation soon to be passed in other states that currently deem daily fantasy sports illegal.
Yesterday we sat down with DraftKings CEO and co-founder Jason Robins to talk more about the news, as well as the state of the industry and his company.
Robins discussed the different between a legal and legislative fight with regulators, and how the New York decision will help drive the industry forward.
Robins also talked about some of the technology powering DraftKings’ product, and why it really is a technology company at heart.
